10 Steps to the Summer Project
- Pick a topic for your summer art project; it can be from the ideas above or a totally different idea or approach that occurred during the last 50 years. Some ideas are provided above.
- Create your masterpiece. The artwork must be the original work of the submitting artist and must be completed during the Summer 2023. If a photo is used, you must have permission to use the photo, or the arrangement/presentation must be significantly altered from the reference photo(s).
- The size of the artwork must be around 16 x 20 (i.e., this is a ballpark size, use your best judgement on framing, matting, and artwork to stay as close to 16 x 20 as you can).
- Fill out a Wall Tag – Type a 3-5 unlined index card, or similar type of card, with your name, title, size (including frame), price and medium.
- Fill out the AGOP entry forms (on the AGOP website resources page). The small tag should be attached to the wire on the back of the artwork, on the right-hand side, and the large tag will be submitted when you register the artwork at the September meeting. No entry fee, but there will be a 10% commission to AGOP if your artwork sells (Honor system).
- Also include a 100 (approximate) word paragraph of why you chose this “Style”
- Take a picture of your artwork. If using glass, take your picture before it is framed. Email picture and all other requested information to Kim Russell at [email protected] by Augsut 31, 2023.
- Take in will be at the Sept 5, 2023, meeting (First meeting of the new AGOP year). If you cannot attend the meeting, please send your artwork in with a friend.
- At the September meeting, pay your $45.00 AGOP 2023-2024 membership dues (this year, membership dues will not be accepted before Sept 1). Dues may be paid on the AGOP website or at the meeting. Remember, there is a $5 discount for cash or check.
- Bring Artwork to September meeting. People’s choice awards will be presented on Sept 5. Four selected artists will each receive a $25 Gift Card.
- Lastly, visit the artwork at Orange Park Town Hall anytime between Sept 6 and November 1, 2023. The exhibit may move to the County Courthouse following the Town Hall exhibit period, most likely in January. You may also choose to have your artwork in the 2023 Artistic View book.
Take down dates and times will be posted on the AGOP website.
Certification
- Each artist is required to sign the entry form certifying that each piece submitted meets the Art Guild of Orange Park’s criteria for entering an exhibit.
- If there is a dispute about any of the standards being violated, a review committee will discuss, and appropriate action will be taken. All decisions of the review committee will be final.
Guidelines
Framing and wiring guidelines are posted on the AGOP Website Resource Page, titled “Presentation Guidelines.”
Wall Tags
3×5 tag – please type on plain white paper, check for spelling and grammar. This tag will be mounted on black card stock and displayed next to your artwork at Town Hall. The “About the Artwork” paragraph should talk about why you picked this topic, its significance over the past 50 years, anything of interest about your artwork, etc.
Summary – Create artwork during summer 2023, send picture and paragraph to Kim Russell at [email protected] by August 31, bring artwork, Wall tag, AGOP entry forms, and pay your dues at the Sept 5 meeting.
